Winter Wishes by Sandra Botham

Instructions

When it comes to Christmas I am quite traditional in my colour scheme. I tend to go with Red and Green most of the time and that is what I have done with this journal page.

Step 1: Gather together your journal page, paints and brayer.

Step 2: Taking your Postbox Red Paint and apply a small amount to your craft mat with a spatula and run your brayer over the paint to cover your brayer. Then brayer over your page. Do not worry if there is white showing it does not matter, in fact it is best if there is some. Repeat the above instructions but with the Cutgrass paint. (You do not need as much green paint as the red.)

Step 3: Using the Journal Block and a pencil create a border all the way around your page. The depth of the border is up to you.

Step 4: Using the Holly border stamp from Christmas Borders set; add some holly coming down from the top of the page. I used Archival ink in Jet Black for this.

Step 5: Using Dylusions Black Marble Paint, paint the border in that you created earlier. Now leave your page to one side to dry thoroughly.

Step 6: Stamp, cut out and colour your images. I used: Ruby Rainbow – Body and legs. Christmas Accessories – Santa hat. Holly days – Hair. Escape – Head and bowtie. Puddy Cats – Cat. One Two Tree – Swing base. Dear Santa – Robin and presents.

Step 7: Using your Dylusions inks in a waterbrush, colour the holly leaves and berries at the top of the page. I used the same coloured inks as paints I used. (Postbox Red and Cut Grass)

Step 8: Create your swing – Sit your strip across the page where you would like it. Once happy with where it is to go, stick it down. Create the chain part with a Dylusions black paint pen. (It’s up to you what type of doodle you do).

Step 9: To create the crossed legs for the swing, cut the legs from your character and cross them over each other and stick down. Stick down all your other stamped images.

Step 10: Using the white Dylusions paint pen add some white pen work around the black border.

Step 11: Using the black Dylusions paint pen add a sentiment or saying to your page.

Step 12: Add a touch of Glossy Accents to the holly berries.
