Two Color Challege Art Journal Page by Jessica Sanders

In this video tutorial, guest artist Jessica Sanders shares how she challenges herself to create a two color journal page using near complementary colors from the Dina Wakley Media Color Confidence Guide.

Instructions
Hello, artsy friends! I’m Jessica Sanders, and I am super happy to be here with you on the Ranger Projects Page!  Today, let’s do a challenge!  Let’s create a two-color art journal page on canvas in the Dina Wakley MEdia Journal.

Dina Wakley Media Journal Page Step 1

Step 1: Choose 2 colors from the “Near Complementary” page in Color Confidence with Dina Wakley printable.  For this project, the near complements are Lapis and Lemon.  Using a brayer, apply Lemon and Lapis Dina Wakley Media Paints to the small rectangular Gel Plate, creating a gradient. Blend the two colors in the middle, creating a beautiful natural green.  Add stamping with Abstract Blooms and Lapis in opposite corners. Then, use the Gel Plate as a stamp on a Clear Gesso-covered canvas page in the Dina Wakley MEdia Journal.

Step 2: Next, create two tags.  Repeat the same process as above for adding paint to the Gel Plate, except cluster the stamped flowers on the bottom area of the gradient color.  Place your tags onto the Gel Plate, leaving some area exposed.  Cover with clean scrap paper, and press firmly.  Stamp more flowers directly on the tags and scrap paper for added texture. With a paint brush, add White to edges of the tags.

Step 3: With Dina Wakley MEdia Fierce Stamp Set and Lapis, stamp the sentiment ‘You Got This’ on Plain Collage Tissue.  Tear out stamped area, and adhere to a small torn piece of the gel printed scrap paper with Dina Wakley MEdia Gel Medium.

Step 4: Tear the edges of the scrap paper around the painted area.   Arrange scrap paper, loose strings from Dina Wakley MEdia Journal pages, tags, and the stamped sentiment into a focal point. Adhere with Dina Wakley MEdia Ultra Thick Gel Medium.

Step 5: Splatter with White Paint to pull it all together.

Congratulations!  You’ve completed the 2-color challenge!  Thank you for joining in the fun!
