Stay Curious Art Journal Page by Jessica Sanders

Jessica Sanders shares how to create a simple art journal page using Dina Wakley MEdia products. Create a resist with Scribble Sticks and Tim Holtz Distress® MicroGlaze™ on cotton watercolor paper and select a focal point from the Dina Wakley Media Collage Collective.

Instructions
Hello, my creative friends!  I’m Jessica Sanders, and I am super happy to be here with you on the Ranger projects page! Today, let’s make a quick and easy art journal page inspired by Dina Wakley’s Collage Words sentiment  “Stay Curious”.

Stay Curious Art Journal Page Step 1

Step 1: Start by stamping text as texture with the Love of Circles stamps and Black Archival Ink on Dina Wakley Media Watercolor Paper.

Step 2: Next, create a heart-shaped resist over the background texture with Micro Distress Glaze and a Mini Ink Blending Tool. Load the Blending Tool with a light layer of Distress Glaze, and apply through the Best Hearts stencil in top left corner and bottom right corner of the page.

Step 3: Apply Scribble Sticks with a wet paintbrush, for a watercolor effect. The Distress Glaze hearts will resist most of the color from the Scribble Sticks, which creates a super fun, impressionistic background!  Use a range of similar colors to create a gradient from dark to light. Colors used: Marine, Night, Peacock, Sky, Cheddar, Black. Try to preserve the white of the paper in the middle of the page. Allow to dry before continuing.

Step 4: Flip through Collage Collective, find the page with the hand, and cut it out. Apply it to your page with Ultra Thick Gel Medium. Allow to dry, and add a shadow around the hand with a black Stabilo All pencil.

Step 5: Apply the sentiment “Stay Curious” with Gel Medium.

Step 6: Add the finishing touches by journaling with a Fude Ball Pen or creating splatters with Scribble Sticks.

When complete, this page makes a great addition to your art journal!  It can be tipped in, taped in with Dina Wakley Media Washi tape, or added as a fabulous focal point in Dina’s large journal!
