Crafty vibes from the shore! Jess Peters is wrapping up summer with this playful journal page using the new Dylusions Stampers Anonymous Dinky Dolls Stamps, Intense Colour Caykes & Sticks, Paints, and more. Bright, bold, and a little sassy, this beach-inspired layout is the perfect reminder to dive into your journal and make something fun before the season sails away.

Instructions

Ahoy, my crafty mates! Summer is coming to a close here at the Jersey shore so I wanted to create a page inspired by a day at the beach. The Dylusions Dinky Dolls Stamps and Back Chat quote add a touch of sass and the bright colors of ink, paint, and colour caykes make this layout super fun to make! I hope it inspires you to sit down with your journal and create something you’re proud of… before your dock rots!

Step 1: Open to a blank page in your Large Dylusions Creative Journal and make sure the page behind it is blank as well. Paint the page with Dylusions Shimmer Paint in Vanilla Custard (you do not need to paint the center since we’ll be removing that later). When the paint is dry, apply Desert Sand Archival Ink through the small Fishtails stencil with a mini ink blending tool.

Step 2: With a paintbrush, wet the Chocolate Drop Color Cayke from the Dylusions Colour Caykes and Sticks set and splatter your page with it. Allow to dry completely.

Step 3: On the next page of your journal, apply FlipCap Paint in London Blue and Vibrant Turquoise as well as Shimmer Paint in Blue Lagoon with a brush. Don’t worry about blending the colors together, stripey and unblended works perfectly!

Step 4: When your paint layer is completely dry, apply Dylusions Archival Ink in Just Indigo through the small Fronds of Fun stencil. Turn the stencil sideways and apply the ink to random areas for a watery look!

Step 5: Turn back to your sandy colored page and carefully cut or puncture a hole in the middle. Tear out the center leaving an approximate 1½ inch border around the edge. Ink the edges with Desert Sand Archival Ink and a blending tool.

Step 6: Splatter your page with White Linen Flip Cap paint watered down a bit and set aside to dry.

Step 7: With Black Marble Ink, stamp the octopus girl head from Dinky Dolls set #3 and the body from Dinky Dolls set #2 onto a blank sheet torn out of your journal. Using a Dylusions Waterbrush add color to your stamped images with the Caykes & Sticks.

Step 8: Cut out your stamped images leaving a small border and attach them to your page with Dylusions glue. Also, glue your sandy page to your watery page.

Step 9: From Bigger Back Chat White set #4 find the quote that reads “I hope my ship comes in before my dock rots”. Cut the quote and stick it to the page.

Step 10: Add some finishing details by gluing bits of netting from a bag of produce onto your page and doodling a border around the quote with a white Posca pen.
