Tim Holtz Distress® Inquisitive Card by Cheiron Brandon

Cheiron Brandon shows you how to make this eye-catching background for your next card featuring the newest color in the Tim Holtz Distress Line, Prize Ribbon.

Instructions

Hi there, creative friends! It’s Cheiron Brandon here and today I want to share a card with you using the newest color in the Tim Holtz Distress line, Prize Ribbon. This is a beautiful blue that goes with absolutely everything that I have tried it with!

You know I love bright colors, so today I wanted to try something different and go with a darker more muted palette. Follow along as I take you through the steps I did to create this card.

Distress Masculine Card Step 1

Step 1: Gather a mixture of Distress Oxides and Inks to create your background panel. For this card use Distress Oxide in Prize Ribbon, Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen and Distress Inks in Pumice Stone and Rusty Hinge.

Step 2: Press Inks and Oxides onto the glass mat and spray with water using a Distress Sprayer, you will see the ink bead up. Give it about 4-5 sprays. Always put the regular Distress Inks down first so you don’t mix your Oxides into them.

Distress Masculine Card Step 3

Step 3: Swipe your Distress Watercolor paper through the ink, and dry with a Heat Tool between each layer, building up as you go.

Step 4: If you want to add more color to your layers, feel free to do that using just the colors you want to add. For this panel, add more Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap Oxide, then dried the panel again.

Step 9: Add some more interest to your panel by stamping the Documented stamps in Distress Archival Ink in Ground Espresso. Add the panel to an A2 card base.

Distress Masculine Card Step 10

Step 10: Ink a small panel of Distress Watercolor paper with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Stamp the focal image using Ground Espresso Distress Archival Ink. Stamp the sentiment using Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide. Cut them both out and add to your card using Ranger Foam Tape.
