Art Journaling can be a way for us to express ourselves and get our thoughts into our creations. In this project, you can add a little hidden message or thought through a “peekaboo” image on your page. Using a stamped shape and some cardstock, you can create an interactive page for your art journal.
Step 1: Apply Dina Wakley MEdia Night Acrylic Paint with a Mini Ink Blending Tool through the Giant Stars Stencil and stencil some stars randomly across the page.
Step 2: Stamp several different stars onto white card stock from the MEdia Grungy Stars Cling Stamp Set with Jet Black Archival Ink. Cut them out. You can stamp any shape for this project. The Dina Wakley MEdia For the Love of Circles stamp set would work great as well.
Step 3: Using contrasting colors, spray Dina Wakley MEdia Gloss Sprays around the stamped stars on your page. In this project, Olive and Night Sprays were used. Allow your page to dry completely.
Step 4: Using a paint or gel pen, write some thoughts onto your page to add dimension to your sprayed background.
Step 5: Glue down just the top tip of your stamped stars with a glue stick onto your page in a random pattern. Tip: Odd numbers can appear more random, than even numbers. Then fold back the star against the glued portion, creating your peek-a-boo flap.
Step 6: Paint a “mirrored” image below your star with MEdia White Gesso. This will be your spot to doodle a hidden message.
Step 7: Once your mirrored image in gesso has dried, doodle and write a hidden message on your painted star using a Fude Ball Pen.
Step 8: Stamp face from the MEdia Fierce Stamp Set onto white card stock. Cut image out.
Step 9: Embellish your stamped face with MEdia Acrylic Paints to add some more defined features.
Step 10: Glue your stamped facial image with Ultra Thick Gel Medium to your page. Blend around the edge of your image with acrylics to blend into your page. You can use this idea to add many different kinds of peekaboo shapes on your journal pages.
