Instructions
I’ve got the full, step-by-step tutorial to share. So let’s take a closer look.
Step 1: Begin with a sheet of Letter It A2 Grey Cardstock for the base of the card, and trim down a piece of A2 Ivory Cardstock to be slightly smaller (4” x 5.25”) for the second layer. Using the Letter It Embossing Ink Pad and stamps from the Birthday and Celebration clear stamp sets; begin stamping a variety of celebratory words onto the ivory panel. Make sure to stamp slightly off the edges of the panel. Coat the embossing ink with Silver Tinsel embossing powder.
Step 2: Continue stamping words in the embossing ink, and coating them with the silver tinsel. Repeat the process until the entire panel is covered in words. Heat set the embossing powder using the Heat-It Craft Tool until all the powder has melted and is nice and shiny.
Step 3: Press the Perfect Medium ink pad into the edges of both the ivory and the grey cardstock panels. Using the Letter It powder brush, apply Pewter Perfect Pearls to the inked edges. This will give a beautiful shiny pearlescent finish to the edges. Lightly spray the Perfect Pearls with water mist using the Distress Sprayer to set the powder.
Step 4: Using the Sizzix Mixed Media #4 Thinlits die set, die cut a mosaic pattern from clear vellum. Place the die cut onto one of the largest grey tags from the Letter It Assorted Tag set, and then ink over the vellum stencil using Tattered Rose Distress Oxide ink and a Mini Ink Blending Tool.
Step 5: Cover the entire vellum die cut with the Tattered Rose Oxide using the Ink Blending Tool. Adhere the ivory panel onto the grey card base. Dab small amounts of Ranger Multi Medium Matte onto the back side of the vellum die cut, and then adhere the vellum to the bottom right corner of the ivory panel. Machine stitch around the edge of the card, if desired. Add some ink splatters to the card using the Tattered Rose Oxide ink mixed with a small amount of water. Pick up the ink mixture with a paintbrush, and tap the brush against your finger to create the droplets. Wrap Idea-ology Crinkle Ribbon around the right side of the card, and secure the ends on the back side of the panel using a bit of cello tape. Tie a small bow from an additional piece of ribbon, and adhere the bow to the top of the tag using Multi Medium Matte. Ink a piece of white twine with the Tattered Rose Oxide ink, and then tie the twine through the top of the tag.
Step 6: Stamp the largest vase from the Flower Jar stamp set once onto Ranger Mixed Media Heavystock paper, and once onto vellum, using LetterIt Jet Black Archival Ink. Die cut the jars using the matching Thinlits dies.
Step 7: Stamp a variety of flower stems and greens from the Flower Jar stamp set onto Mixed Media Heavystock using the Jet Black Ink. Die cut the stems with the matching dies. Color the images with Distress Markers, and then move the ink around using a wet paintbrush to create a watercolor effect. Mask off the top portion of the cardstock vase image and sponge Salty Ocean Distress Ink onto the bottom of the vase using the Mini Ink Blending Tool. Color the ribbon on the jar with Distress Marker. Color the back side of the ribbon on the vellum jar, too.
Step 8: Using a craft knife, slice a small slit into the top of the vellum jar, just above the front rim. Slip the die cut flowers through the slit and secure the stems in place using Multi Medium Matte. Adhere the vellum jar onto the cardstock jar with the multi medium, lining up the edges to match.
Step 9: Place foam adhesive onto the back of the jar, and then adhere it to the center of the tag. Cut a thin strip of Mixed Media Heavystock, and stamp a sentiment onto the strip using the Jet Black ink. Fold the ends of the strip into a banner shape, and snip a small V-notch into both ends. Adhere the sentiment strip to the bottom of the jar. Add additional foam to the back of the tag, and adhere it to the right side of the card, centered onto the ribbon. Place one last sprig of greenery at the bottom of the jar, adhered in place with Multi Medium Matte.
I love how this card turned out! So sparkly and pretty with that touch of shimmery Perfect Pearls and tinsel embossing powder!
Thanks for joining me today! Enjoy!
