With just a few quick steps you can have an interesting art journal spread with cut-outs! Cut-outs add so much fun to your journal and is a great way to draw attention to a great quote!
Step 1: Open up to a two-page spread in your small Dylusions Black Creative Journal. You will also want the pages behind the left page to be blank as well (see step 5 & 6 if you’d like to see why). Grab the large Dylusions Stencil Suits You Sir and some Shimmer Paints. The colors used here are White Linen, Island Parrot, Calypso Teal and Cherry Pie.
Step 2: Pick a color for each suit in the stencil and apply the color accordingly on both pages. The colors assigned here are as follows:
Clubs – Island Parrot
Spades – White Linen
Hearts – Cherry Pie
Diamonds – Calypso Teal
Step 3: On white paper, stamp the body from the Dylusions stamp set A Day at the Races. Also stamp 3 of the large boxes from the Dylusions Diddy stamp Box it Up. Cut out the center of these boxes as well.
Step 4: Glue down your images as shown in the picture.
Step 5: Once again, cut out the center of the boxes.
Step 6: On the page behind the cutouts, paint the areas that will be shown. Use colors you have already used in your stenciling.
Step 7: Add your quote in the boxes. This one reads “Suit up and focus on being awesome every day”.
Step 8: You may glue this page down to the one behind it (as it has been done here) or leave it loose and decorate those back pages as well in a future art session.
