Hi there, friends! It’s always fun to create a journal page with an interactive element and the Large Ledger Journal makes it easy with its pre-printed pages guiding the way. Follow along to make a colorful and dimensional fairy-tale window in your journal!

 

Dylusions Once Upon A Time Journal Page by Jess Peters Step 1

Step 1: Open your Large Ledger Journal to a graph paper page. Using the Dylusions Cutting Mat and a craft knife cut a window out of the center, 6-7 squares in from the edge of the page as shown.

Step 2: Decorate the frame of your window using Dylusions Flip Cap Paint and a Dylusions Paint Pen both in Black Marble. Using the grid as a guide, color in a black border around the edges and doodle a checkerboard pattern.

Step 3: On a separate piece of journal paper use the ¾ brush to apply Dylusions Flip Cap Paint in Jungle Leaf and Sour Appletini. Don’t worry about blending the colors, a streaky look works great!

Step 4: Mount the stamps from Dylusions Stampers Anonymous Cling Mount Stamp - The Longer the Leaf onto the Long Journal Stamp Block. Ink them with Black Marble Archival Ink from Dylusions Mini Archival Ink Kit #1 and stamp them onto the green painted page. Stamp the frog prince from the Dylusions Stampers Anonymous Cling Mount Stamp - Stevie Baby set onto a blank page using the Black Marble Ink as well.

Step 5: Color in the frog prince using Dylusions Ink Spray in Chopped Pesto, Lemon Zest, and Island Parrot. Add a bit of Chopped Pesto to each leaf and loosely trace the stems.

Step 6: After the stamped papers dry completely, fussy-cut the leafy vines and the frog prince.

Step 7: On the dot grid journal page behind your frame paint stripes using Dylusions Shimmer Paint in Crushed Grape, Bubblegum Pink, Tangerine Dream, and Lemon Zest using your ¾ brush.

 

Step 8: Glue the leaves and frog prince to the checkerboard frame as shown. Position the leaves so that some go behind the frame for a 3-D effect.

 

Step 9: With the Dylusions Paint Pen in White Linen scribble down your thoughts. The dot grid pattern will help to keep the lines straight.

Step 10: Find the quote “Once upon a time, I didn’t care. The End” from the Dylusions Bigger Back Chat - Black 3. Cut and adhere it to the background shimmer page.

Step 11: Add a few details by highlighting the leaves with the Dylusions Paint Pen in White Linen and sparkle the frog prince’s crown with Dylusions Stardust Stickles. Your fairy-tale page is complete!
