Writing down gentle reminders for yourself is a great way to practice self-care. In this tutorial, Denise Lush uses Dylusions products to create an interactive peekaboo journal spread filled with positive affirmations.
Step 1: In your Dylusions The Classics Journal, turn to where you have two consecutive kraft pages.
Step 2: Stamp with Jet Black Archival ink the following images onto some white paper:
The head and feet from The Ties the Limit
The upper torso from Fish Face
The skirt from Paper Doll
Step 3: Cut out the stamped images and glue onto your page as shown. Using the Dylusions Journaling block, draw a frame onto your page. Only the three sides are necessary.
Step 4: With a knife and the Dylusions Cutting Mat, cut just inside of the 3 lines and around the stamped image.
Step 5: Trace the outline of the cut-out onto the next page. Take the mask of the largest dress form from the stencil & mask set Walk in the Park, and trace on the page as well. Refer to picture for placement.
Within that space write a quote on your thoughts or wishes for the New Year. Feel free to use the quote shown here:
“Every year you make a resolution to change yourself. This year, make a resolution to be yourself.”
Step 6: Using the negative portion of the Walk in the Park stencil, fill the form with Dylusions Black Marble Paint.
Step 7: Using a small Dylusions paint brush, outline around the form in more black marble paint, leaving some kraft paper around the image to make it more visible.
Step 8: Use the blending tool to fill in the rest of the 2 pages with black marble paint.
Step 9: With the White Linen Paint Pen trace a border around the 2 pages using A Stitch In Time Large stencil. Trace around the form and your quote as well.
Now use all that black space to write messages to yourself. Write gentle reminders, things you love and what you love about yourself.
Don’t forget to read these throughout the year to remind yourself just how awesome you are!
