Hi there! It’s Cheiron Brandon back with another monthly post. Today I have a fun tutorial for you, featuring the brand new Bold Botanicals stamp set from Tim Holtz. I love these images, especially to create a set of spring notecards. I thought it would be fun to make some pop art inspired notecards using the images in these sets with bright unexpected color combos using Distress Embossing Glazes as a resist. To create a super vibrant look with my Distress Embossing Glazes, I like to stamp and emboss them using the same color of Distress Oxide.
Step 1: Gather your supplies. I am using the Bold Botanicals and Noteworthy stamps. You will need Distress Embossing Glazes (and Distress Oxides) in Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean and Wild Honey. You will also need Distress Spray Stains in Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral. For surfaces, I used Distress Watercolor Cardstock.
Step 2: Stamp the floral images onto Distress Watercolor cardstock cut 2 1/2 x 3 1/2.
Step 3: Add the Distress Embossing Glaze and heat emboss. I recommend doing one color of ink and glaze at a time, so your ink does not get too dry to emboss.
Step 4: Continue until all four flowers are stamped and embossed with the Distress Embossing Glaze.
Step 5: Inside of a splat box, mist your embossed paper with water using a Distress Sprayer.
Step 6: Continue the process until all your embossed panels are covered with Distress Spray Stain, and then dry with heat tool or let dry.
Step 7: Once your panels are completely dry, take a dry cloth or paper towel and wipe off the excess ink that has beaded up on top of the Distress Embossing Glaze. Use a clean section of the towel for each panel.
Step 8: Stamp a sentiment from the Noteworthy stamp set onto each card using Black Soot Distress Archival Ink.
Step 9: Adhere the glaze panels to the notecards using foam adhesive.
I hope you enjoyed these colorful cards! If bright colors are not your thing, experiment with softer colors to create these cards. A set of these would be a lovely gift too.
