Nicole Wright here. Holiday crafting is all around and I am excited to share my Patchwork Etcetera Tag on Ranger’s Blog. I had this idea while looking at all my scraps of Christmas paper. Creating a collage with scraps of holiday paper makes for a warm festive foundation for any holiday craft. Get your scraps out and look at them differently.

Instructions
Step 1: Distress Collage Medium Crazing is my go to for collaging all the paper. I cut the scraps with the Sizzix Stitched Square in various sizes. Each paper is layered and collaged to cover the whole tag making sure to cover each piece with Distress Collage Medium Crazing.
Step 2: The Distress Collage Medium Crazing takes no time to dry and acts as a great primer. Apply Distress Crayon Black Soot to edge out each piece. Then smudge to spread the black soot. This will highlight each piece of paper and show that stitched detail. A little Distress Crayon goes a long way.
Step 3: Use Distress Markers to add color to the paper dolls. To make the Tattered Pinecones cut three 3×3 pieces of watercolor cardstock, spritz with water and Distress Spray Stain.
Step 4: Dry the pieces and die cut. Take the time to prep the Tattered Pinecones by bending and folding back the petals. Attach to a toothpick and wrap to create a pinecone. For me, watching Tim Holtz’ video (over and over) made making these easy… after a lot of practice.
Step 5: Place a little Distress Collage Medium Crazing on the tips and dip in Distress Stickles Clear Rock Candy Dry Glitter. Experimenting is always fun so I tried the Emboss It Dabber too just for fun. Distress Collage Medium Crazing works much better to hold the Distress Glitter.
Step 6: Assembling all those pieces and embellishments is so much fun. The Vignette Box Topper is full of silvery garland and mini LED lights. The Christmas Paper Doll kids are standing on cotton ball snow and Idea-ology Baubles for stacked snowballs.
Crank the Holiday Tunes and gather all the inky, sticky and glittery supplies to try this fun Patchwork Technique. This can apply to cardmakers, scrapbookers, mixed media canvas or in this case an Etcetera Tag.
Happy Holiday Ranger Crafters
