Hi everyone, it’s Audrey, back today to share a holiday-themed card project with you featuring fun stamps and dies from Tim Holtz mixed with a beautiful outdoorsy color palette of my favorite Ranger Distress products.
I adore the large sentiments in the Doodle Greetings stamp sets, and picked out my favorite holiday greeting for this fun card today. The large sizes of the fonts make them perfect for focal images on card designs, and I love when a card needs only a sentiment and not much else to make it really pop. Great for mass-producing, or for when you’re a bit pressed for time, like around the holidays.
I’ve got the complete step-by-step tutorial to share with you, so let’s take a closer look.
Step 1: Trim a 4x5.25 piece of watercolor paper. Dab Old Paper, Bundled Sage, and Peeled Paint Distress Inks onto a craft mat. Spray the inks liberally with water using a Distress Sprayer. Press the front of the cardstock into the ink mixture, twisting and swishing it to cover it in the inks. Dry the paper with a Heat Tool, and repeat the process as many times as necessary to get the ink coverage that you want.
Step 2: Cut a 4x5.25 piece of scrap paper. Using a ruler and pencil, find the center point of the paper by drawing lines from corner to corner, side to side, and top to bottom. Die cut a large oval shape from the center of the paper, using the pencil marks to line up the die as best as you can. Lay the die cut paper onto the inked watercolor panel, and hold it in place with a bit of low tack tape. Put a dab of re-positionable adhesive onto the back of the oval die cut, and place it within the frame opening. Remove the outside frame, leaving only the centered oval mask.
Step 3: Place the panel into a stamp positioning tool, and tape down the corners with low-tack tape. Ink the Sparkles background stamp with Bundled Sage and Peeled Paint Distress Inks, mist the stamp lightly with water, and stamp the pattern onto the watercolor panel. Remove the mask.
Step 4: Place the panel back into the stamp platform. Position a Doodle sentiment stamp so that it fits within the masked oval in the center of the panel. Ink the image with Vintage Photo Distress Archival Ink, and stamp the sentiment.
Step 5: Watercolor portions of the image with Peeled Paint, Forest Moss, and Festive Berries Distress Inks.
Step 6: Stamp just the banner portion of the image again on Watercolor Paper using Barn Door Distress Archival Ink. Fussy cut the banner and watercolor the image with Old Paper and Festive Berries Distress Inks. Add the banner to the stamped image using Foam Adhesive. Add dot detail to the image using Carnation Red Liquid Pearls, and then set the panel aside to dry. Cut a 4.25x5.5 piece of Distress Kraft Stock Classic Cardstock for the base of the card. Sand the edges.
Step 7: Adhere the watercolor panel to the Kraft Stock cardstock, and machine stitch around the edges, if desired. Add the panel to a standard A2 card base. Edge the card with Festive Berries Distress Ink using a Mini Ink Blending Tool. Die cut two pine branches from sanded Kraft Stock Cardstock.
Step 8: Adhere the pine branches to the bottom of the card using small dots of Ranger Multi Medium Matte Adhesive. Cut a 3.4” square from a scrap of the cardstock, and cut it in half along the diagonal to create two triangles. Glue these photo corners to the top corners of the card. Tie a bow from Naturals Trimmings, and adhere the bow to the pine branches using Multi Medium Matte Adhesive.
Step 9: Using your fingertip, dab Brushed Corduroy Distress Paint onto two small Idea-ology pine cones. Set the cones aside to dry. Once dry, tie the two pine cones together with a small piece of floss, and adhere them to the bow using Multi Medium Matte.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
