Hi there, Crafty Friends! It’s Cheiron Brandon here and I am thrilled to be sharing a Mother’s Day card with you featuring Dina Wakley Media Products and some Ranger Stickles to make your card extra special. When making a card for a special occasion, I always love to make a card size that is a little out of the ordinary, so for today’s card, I will be making a traditional slimline.
Step 1: To begin, cut a piece of Dina’s watercolor paper as a panel to fit a slimline card.
Step 2: Use Jet Black Archival Ink to stamp the flowers from the Scribbly Flowers and Insects stamp set in a pattern. To do this, start somewhere slightly off the middle of the panel and build the pattern from the inside out. Remember to rotate the stamp around so all your flowers are not facing the same direction!
Step 3: Grab your favorite colors of Dina Wakley Media paints. I used Apricot, Heather, Blackberry, Aloe and Olive. Put them on a Craft Sheet and spray them with a bit of water using a Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer.
Step 4: Paint in all of the flowers with purples, and leaves in greens. Add a lot of water to the Apricot paint and paint a wash all around the flowers, filling the entire panel. Let dry.
Step 5: Add a little splatter of Medieval Gloss Spray by removing the sprayer from the bottle, and shaking the paint off the bottom of it onto the panel. Let dry, and don’t forget to put the nozzle back on your bottle!
Step 6: For the focal point of this card, I wanted to combine Dina’s Block letters to spell out the word “mom.” Stamp them in Wilted Violet Distress Ink. You could also stamp them with paint, as long as you remember to clean your stamps right away. I cut them out after I stamped them leaving a slight border.
Step 7: I wanted to add something else to complete my sentiment so I stamped the words from the You Are the Universe set and embossed them in White.
Step 8: Now it’s time to assemble the card and add the final touch, some glittery goodness in the form of Mermaid Tail Stickles. Adhere the panel and sentiment to the card and add the Stickles as the very last step!
Step 9: Walk away, let the Stickles dry…for a while. I left mine for a couple of hours. Then come back and admire the sparkle and shine of all those beautiful blooms. Stickles is the perfect way to add glitter to any project because it does not come off once it’s dry. I hope you will try adding some extra sparkle to your handmade cards this way.
