October Is About Art Journal Page by Carissa Zglobicki

Inspired by autumn and the colors of nature, Carissa Zglobicki shares a creative art journal page featuring Dina Wakley MEdia products. In this technique packed tutorial, Carissa shares new and exciting ways to use your Dina Wakley MEdia products to create layers of texture and interest.

Instructions

Dina Wakley Media Art Journal Page Step 1

Step 1: Start by adding Turquoise and Mineral Dina Wakley MEdia Paint to the top left and bottom right corners of the journal page and spreading with a palette knife. Add more paint until happy with the coverage.

Step 2: Inspired by the colors of changing leaves, add Lemon, Olive and Evergreen to the middle of the page diagonally and spread with the Palette Knife. Once dry (or speed up the drying process with your Heat Tool) add some marks in Sedona with a paintbrush. Circle those with the tip of the paint bottle in Fuchsia. At this point add some journaling to the background with a Scribble Stick and activate with a spritz of water to disguise what you wrote.

Step 3: If the page is a bit busy, simply tone it down with a thin layer of gesso on a brayer. Add paint directly to the brayer and smooth over the entire page. The gesso lightens as it dries and the layers underneath peek through without being too loud.

Step 4: Dina Wakley Media Collage Tissues make awesome resists. Using one of the white prints, saturate with Distress Oxide Sprays mixing Fossilized Amber, Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberry until happy. Cut out the figure and adhere to the page with Gel Medium.

Step 5: Mix a little bit of Turquoise, Mineral and Night for added depth and apply through the Large Fracture Chevrons stencil. Place three times around the page for added interest and texture. Shade around the collage figure with a water soluble medium to make it stand out from the rest of the background. Add some more journaling, a quote and the page is finished!
