Instructions

Hi everyone, it’s Audrey, and I’m so excited to be back to share another project here on the Ranger Projects Page. Today I’m looking forward to my favorite season with a fall-inspired everyday card featuring the warm golden yellows and rich deep orange and rust that is the Distress autumnal palette.

Distress Life Moments Card

This card is a fun mix of some newer products, like Ranger Distress Archival Inks and the awesome Crackle texture folder from Tim Holtz and Sizzix, combined with lots of pretty Distress Ink colors and favorite stamps. I’m going with a fall look today, but it’s super easy to change out the colors of Distress to create a spring or summer look using the same products and design. Let’s take a closer look.

Distress Life Moments Card Step 1

Step 1: Trim a 4.25" x 5.5" piece of kraft cardstock. Lightly mist the paper with water using a Distress Sprayer, and then insert the cardstock into the 3D Crackle embossing folder. Run the folder through your die cutting machine to emboss.

Distress Life Moments Card Step 2

Step 2: Drag a Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink Pad over the edges of the embossed cardstock. Be sure to get in about a ¼” from the edges to highlight the dimension of the embossing. Add strips of Ranger Wonder Tape all around the edges of an A2 card base, and then adhere the embossed paper to it. If the embossing process shrunk the kraft cardstock at all, simply trim the card base to fit.

Distress Life Moments Card Step 3

Step 3: Trim a 3.75" x 5" piece of Ranger Watercolor cardstock. Dab Rusty Hinge Distress Ink onto a scrap piece of plastic packaging. Spray the ink with water using the Distress Sprayer.

Step 4: Press the plastic sheet down onto the watercolor cardstock, moving the ink around with your fingertip until you get the coverage that you wish for. If the color isn’t dark enough, dry the paper with a Heat-It Tool, and repeat the process.

Distress Life Moments Card Step 5

Step 5: Ink the edge of the watercolor paper with Antique Linen Distress Ink using a Mini Ink Blending Tool. Dab Brushed Corduroy Ink onto a Craft Sheet and spray it lightly with water. Pick up the ink mixture with a wet Ranger Artist Brush, and flick the ink onto the cardstock. Allow the ink droplets to dry completely. Adhere the watercolor panel to the center of the card using Wonder Tape.

Distress Life Moments Card Step 6

Step 6: Trim a 3” square of kraft cardstock, and two slightly smaller squares of Distress Kraft Stock Cardstock. Edge the kraft paper with Brushed Corduroy Distress ink. Layer all the cardstock squares together at different angles. Tuck some loose threads behind some of the layers. Adhere the papers together, and add decorative Tiny Attacher staples to the corners. Adhere the panel to the top of the card using foam adhesive. Stamp two maple leaves onto watercolor cardstock using Vintage Photo Distress Archival ink. Trim the leaves out.

Step 7: Watercolor the leaves using Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge, and Aged Mahogany Distress Inks. Allow the leaves to dry completely when finished. Adhere them to the layered cardstock squares using Ranger Multi Medium Matte adhesive.

Distress Life Moments Card Step 8

Step 8: Stamp a sentiment from the Hashtags stamp set onto a thin strip of watercolor cardstock using Ground Espresso Archival Distress Ink. Trim the ends into a V-notch. Flick Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink onto the banner, and then edge it with Antique Linen Ink using the Mini Ink Blending Tool with Foam. Add foam adhesive behind the banner, and then attach it across the bottom of the leaves.
