With Easter quickly approaching, I thought it would be fun to make an Easter Bunny version of the Crazy critters for a super sweet and shabby Distress holiday card. What a great way to send a holiday greeting to your loved ones, right?

Let’s take a closer look.

Step 1: To begin, stamp your images onto Ranger Watercolor cardstock using Jet Black Archival Ink. For this card you will need three Crazy Cats, one set of bunny ears, and a sentiment. Die cut the cats and ears using the matching Framelits dies. Cut the sentiment into a thin strip.

Step 2: Watercolor the cats and ears using a variety of Distress Inks. To watercolor with Distress, simply press the ink pads onto a Non-Stick Craft Sheet. Mix the inks with a bit of water using a Ranger Artist Brush, and apply the color to your image. For the cats, start with the lightest color of ink on the first cat, and gradually deepen the color of the images as you go.

Step 3: Apply Glossy Accents to the eyes and noses of the cats. Set the images aside to dry.

Step 4: Create a side-folding standard A2 card base from white cardstock. Cut a piece of Memoranda patterned paper to fit. Round the two right corners of the card base and patterned paper using a corner rounder punch. Nestle the two largest Stitched Rectangle Framelits dies, and hold them in place with a bit of washi tape. Die cut the frame from gold metallic cardstock.

Step 5: Die cut two additional frames from white cardstock

Step 6: Adhere the patterned paper to the card base. Distress the edges using a Tim Holtz Paper Distressor. Ink the edges with brown Distress ink using a Mini Ink Blending Tool. Adhere the three frame die cuts together using Ranger Multi-Medium Matte. Sand the frame, and then ink the edges.

Step 7: Remove the washi tape from the two rectangle dies, and then die cut the smaller shape from Watercolor Cardstock. Dab Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, and Frayed Burlap Distress Ink pads onto the Craft Sheet, and spritz the inks liberally with water using a Distress Sprayer. Press the rectangle die cut into the ink mixture. Dry the paper with a Heat Tool, or allow it to air dry. Repeat this process to intensify the colors, if desired.

Step 8: Place the Measured stencil over the inked rectangle, and apply Victorian Velvet to the stencil using an Ink Blending Tool.

Step 9: Adhere a strip of text-print patterned paper across the bottom of the card base. Cut a piece of black Distress cardstock that is slightly larger than the gold frame. Adhere the frame to the cardstock, and then nestle and adhere the smaller rectangle shape inside the frame. Finally, adhere the finished frame to the card base.

Step 10: Adhere the ears behind the head of the darkest Crazy Cat image using multi medium matte. Position all three cats inside the frame, and adhere them in place. Use the Multi Medium adhesive to adhere the cats, but place a bit of foam adhesive behind the head of the focal cat, for a bit of extra dimension.

Step 11: Ink the sentiment strip with Fossilized Amber and Victorian Velvet ink. Layer onto a strip of sanded black Distress Cardstock. Cut the right ends of both strips into a banner V-notch. Ink a piece of Crinkle Ribbon and a Bouquet blossom with Victorian Velvet ink. Tie the ribbon around the left side of the sentiment strip, and then adhere the strip across the bottom of the cats. Adhere the Bouquet blossom to the ears of the focal cat.
