Halloween Treat Box by Dina Wakley

Instructions

Happy October! I am excited about the limited edition holiday stamp and stencils sets. I used mine to create this cute little treat holder. Here’s how I did it!

I took one sheet of Dina Wakley Media Board and cut it in half, so I had a piece that is 4.5″x12″. I scored the media board (on the canvas side) with a paper cutter at 3″, 6″, and 9″. When I say “score,” I mean I used a paper trimmer to cut the board half-way through its total thickness. That sounds complicated but really, it’s easy because a typical paper trimmer can’t cut all the way through the board with one cut. Just cut once, and you’ll have the perfect score mark.

Now you can fold the board on the score marks to create a little box. I painted the box with White, Lime, Night, and Blackberry paints, and added writing with Sterling and the Fine Line Tip applicator. I folded the box and sealed it up with Dina Wakley Media printed tape. I had an old painted tag that didn’t look too great, so I cut it into small circles and used them as a collage element on the box. I stamped images from the stamp set onto Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock with Jet Black Archival, then I painted them in with diluted paint colors (Black, Umber, Magenta).  I used the stencil to create the word strips “caution: bat crossing.” I cut everything out and used both Multi Medium and Ranger Foam Tape to adhere the collage to the box. I filled it with a yummy Halloween treat.
