Hi there, crafty friends! It’s Cheiron Brandon here and I am thrilled to be sharing another tutorial with you here on the Ranger Ink Projects page. I have been playing with my Distress Sprays more and more recently and have been making tons of backgrounds in summery colors.
Today, I have combined one of those backgrounds with the Tim Holtz Cocktails Blueprints to make a fun margarita card that is perfect to get ready for summer weather.
Step 1: Gather your supplies. I used Distress Spray Stains in Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron, and Squeezed Lemonade along with Distress Archival Ink in Black Soot and Crushed Olive to ink up the Cocktails Blueprints and Tiny Text stamps.
Step 2: Inside of a splat box, spray a panel of Distress Watercolor Cardstock with the Distress Spray Stains. I started with the Squeezed Lemonade and then added a little Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron.
Step 3: Dry with Heat Tool, spray more water on panel as necessary and continue to dry.
Step 4: Turn Tiny Text Stamps on their back and then ink up parts of the stamp with Distress Archival Ink in Crushed Olive.
Step 5: Press your dry sprayed panel into the ink on the Tiny Text stamp and lift up. Let dry or dry with Heat Tool.
Step 6: Stamp Cocktails Blueprints stamp over dried panel using Black Soot Distress Archival Ink, and also stamp another cocktail onto a piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock.
Step 7: Color in the cocktail on the piece of Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I used Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Tumbled Glass, and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks and painted in the image using a Detailer Waterbrush to pick up the inks and apply them to my paper.
Step 8: Cut out the painted cocktail and the word margarita.
Step 9: Ink the edges of the panel with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink
Step 10: Add some stenciling using Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide and a stencil.
Step 11: Add a ‘salt rim’ to the margarita using Distress Collage Medium and Rock Candy Crystal Clear Glitter.
Step 12: If your card seems too plain like mine did, add some additional stamping using Frayed Burlap and the Media Marks 2 stamps.
Step 13: To finish the card add a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Sentiments sticker and add the panel to a white card base.
I hope you enjoyed making this card with me today! Cheers!
