Upon seeing the New Dina Wakley MEdia Collage Sparks Collection, one might see the opportunity to use the pages to create some mini travel sized collage journals. These little books would be ready to go with you, backgrounds already started so no need to carry too much else to work in them. A perfect fit for those on the go in the coming months of the travel season. Follow along to see how easy it is to create these little gems!
Step 1: Tear out 4-6 pages from any of the Collage Sparks Collection. Select ones with a bit of white space for you to add onto later.
Step 2: Fold the pages in half. Optional: Use a bone folder to crease your folds.
Step 3: Select which page you want to be face up as your cover. Nest the remaining pages inside the “cover”.
Step 4: Select a wider band of Washi tape to fold over the spine of the cover.
Step 5: Punch 2 holes on the spine of your cover. They should be about one inch from the bottom and top of the spine. This is where you will feed the ribbon through your cover to bind your book.
Step 6: Thread the ribbon of your choice through the two holes on your cover. Tie into a double knot and trim the ribbon to the length of your spine.
Step 7: Find a face that you want to use on your cover from the Transparency Sheets. Trim it to the size of your cover (from the washi spine over). Glue the underside of the image with Ultra Thick Gel Medium and smoosh down your cover. The glue will dry clear.
Now you can have a little collage book ready to be altered and added onto when you are on the go!
