One of the easiest ways to get a quick background going is to use Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays and some simple stenciling techniques. In minutes you will have an inspiring background to begin a mixed media spread. Follow along to see how quickly you can achieve this spread in your journal.
Â
Â
Step 1:Â Gesso your page with Clear Gesso using a Mini Blending Tool. Allow to dry. This will allow for better blending when you apply your acrylic sprays.Â
Step 2:Â Spray different colors around your center and leave some white space. Allow colors to pool and mix as they dry. Let the sprays do the work for you.Â
Step 3:Â Using some White Gesso, stencil some images around your colors. Here, the Lattice stencil was used.Â
Â
Step 4:Â Using more White Gesso, stencil a smaller pattern on top of your previous pattern (here, Spaced Dots were used). This is a good way to layer stencils using the same color.Â
Â
Step 5:Â Ink up some leaves from the Seeing is Believing stamp set with Archival Jet Black ink. Stamp onto your page randomly.Â
Â
Step 6:Â Stamp a stem from the Side Eye stamp set onto some ledger paper and cut out. Glue down to your page with Ultra Thick Gel Medium.Â
Step 7:Â Cut out an inspirational phrase from any of the Collage Paper collections. Glue down with Ultra Thick Gel Medium.
Â
Step 8:Â Find an image from the Idea-Ology Paper Doll Portraits to be the centerpiece of your spread. Glue down with Ultra Thick Gel Medium.Â
