The holidays and the end of the year can be such a stressful time. Often we feel rushed with so much on our plate that we end up frazzled. In the post-holiday season, it’s important to take a deep breath and find a moment for ourselves. One way to do that is with art journaling. Here, I’ll share some simple ways to build layers in our journal for a stress-free, relaxing journal page.Â
Step 1: Using a 16 Round brush, spread a combination of two colors around the page. Here, Turquoise and Sage were used.
Â
Step 2: With a mini blending tool and a contrasting color, stencil a design onto the background.
Â
Step 3: While the paint is still somewhat wet, use a Scribble Stick to make some scribbles and marks onto the page. Wet the tip of the Scribble Stick first to make it easier to use.
Â
Step 4: After everything has dried, add some stamping to the background. Here, the circle stamp from the set Healing and Light was used with black Archival Ink.
Â
Step 5: For the final layer, let’s add some more stenciling, this time choosing a color that will pop against the background. Here, Carnation was used.
Â
Step 6: Â The Pocket Squares stamp set is perfect for making a fun focal point. Stamp onto paper and cut out the images. Arrange a few on the page, and adhere with Ultra Thick Gel Medium. Look through the Typed Ledger Papers and find a phrase that speaks to you; adhere it using the same Gel Medium.Â
Â
Step 7: Finally, add some glitzy, sparkly splatters using Ancient Gloss.Â
