Change of the Season Journal Pages by Miranda van den Bosch

Instructions

I love this time of year, autumns foliage, cobwebs, acorns, chestnuts, pumpkins, hot cocoa, warm jumpers and scarfs. Autumn is very inspiring and I love the colours, so for today I created a set of three journal pages with Dylusions products showing the change of the seasons.

In this little tutorial I will show you how I have created my pages.

Step 1: Go to the middle of a signature in your journal and trace your journal block with a pencil and cut this piece off. Repeat on the other side.

Step 2: Choose a few colours that go well together. Here I have used Pomegranate Seed, Tangerine Dream and Pure Sunshine. Use the Mini Ink Blending Tool with Foam to apply the paints to your pages. Apply all the colours to your pages.

After applying the first layer of paint, I’ll go back to add some more layers of paint to get a smooth blend on the edge of a colour until I’m satisfied with the result. This normally means that I use the Blending Tool with Pure Sunshine and blend the paint into the Tangerine Dream, then use the Blending Tool with Tangerine Dream and blend it into the Pure Sunshine.

Step 3: Choose a few stencils and apply some of the paint (use the same background colours you already used before) through the stencil with the Mini Blending Tool.
The stencils I’ve used are Direction, Cobweb and Leaves. I know it’s hard, because there are so many fabulous Dylusions stencils to choose from, but I normally don’t use more than three to four stencils, because it gets very distracting if you use too many different stencils on just one page.

Step 4: Use the large autumn leaf mask from the Nature Stencil Set and place this on your background. Apply some Black Marble Paint around the leaf.
Move the leaf stencil over the page and apply the Black Marble Paint around it.
Next, I used the other part of the leaf stencil from the Nature Stencil Set. I have placed the stencil on a leaf and stamped a cobweb and a spider in all the leaves, using Jet Black Archival Ink and my Journal Block. Both stamps are from the Eat, Drink and Be Scary stamp and stencil set.

This is the finished page. It’s all about Halloween, my favorite time of the year.

For the end of summer page I used the following stamp sets: Always, Autonomy of a Page, Passage of Time, Rose Colored Glasses and Doodle Blooms. All images are coloured with colored pencil. I did some doodling and wrote a quote using the Dylusions Paint Pens.
The paints I used are: Chopped Pesto, Lemon Zest, Dirty Martini (and a drop of Pure Sunshine) and Black Marble. The stencils used are: Flower Pop and Raindrops.

The last page of the changing of the seasons. In the first steps I showed you how I created the background and which colours and stencils I used for this page.
Stamps: Rose Colored Glasses, I Can See Clearly, Put a Bird On It and Doodle Blooms. All images are coloured with coloured pencils.

Hope you liked my set of pages with the Dylusions products.
See you next time

Miranda
