Create a piece of art about resting. Can you slow down? How? How do you rest your soul, your mind, your body? What is the difference between quitting and resting?
As I wrote my journaling on this page, the thought came to me, “Seize the rest.” We have to seize it.
Sometimes rest seems like a luxury and we don’t take enough time to truly take care of ourselves. Lately I’ve been seizing the rest more. By resting, I don’t mean doing nothing. I mean using my free time in ways that are fulfilling. When my depression was really severe, I survived by watching Netflix and lying on my bed. Now that I’m not in the dark abyss like I was, I want to nurture myself better and not be in “survival mode.” I decided to do something that I love to do but haven’t done in years….knitting. I have taken knitting back up with a vengeance and I look forward to my needle time every day. I think it counts as resting because it is rejuvenating and it is a break from my usual routine.
How do you seize your rest? I can’t wait to see your art.
